There Are Some Days I Think I’m Overrated — But Not Today

Some days, she wonders if she’s a little bit of an imposter. Not in the cinematic, double-life kind of way — but in that quieter, more subversive sense that maybe she’s better than she’s been given credit for.

She plays along, letting the world believe they’ve seen the whole picture, knowing full well they’ve only caught the highlight reel. You think I’ve got it all together now? Wait until you see the bloopers, she thinks.

But not today.

Today, the air feels different. Today carries the weight of a truth she rarely says aloud: she’s earned her place here. Not because a room full of strangers clapped for her. Not because she mastered the politics of ticking the “right” boxes. But because she has done the work.

She’s shown up on the mornings she didn’t want to.

She’s cleaned the messes no one else would touch.

She’s absorbed the blows, pocketed the lessons, and kept going.

There have been moments of overreach, and seasons where she was painfully invisible. But overrated? Not even close. If anything, the world is still warming up to the depth of what she’s capable of.

Tomorrow, she might slip back into the habit of second-guessing herself — she knows how that game works.

But today, she isn’t chasing validation or defending her worth.

Today, she’s owning it.

She’s not overrated.

Not today.
